Compost Records evolved in its 20 years of existence from a small one-man bedroom label to a very productive and creative business located East-Munich. Today Compost Records has about 30 exclusive artists and 60 non-exclusive projects, 400 releases plus several releases on five subsidiary labels.
THE STORY
Gilles Peterson says that Compost Records are “the most consistent and forward thinking record label of continental Europe” and with this forward thinking music comes equally forward thinking marketing.
Compost were amid a massive ecommerce platform change when they started talking to us about integrating email marketing into their communications mix. They needed a simple, self-managed and cost effective email marketing solution to communicate with a large email list without the huge overheads of traditional SaaS systems like Mailchimp.
THE PROJECT + OUR WORK
We installed a custom solution directly into their WordPress CMS, with a beautiful and responsive template that the team could manage themselves. All sending was integrated with Amazon’s SES system and they’re now sending more email than ever, generating more sales than ever – for very little overhead.
We also advised on the best way to work with music samples, mixes, podcasts and new releases for the most efficient distribution via social media. Today, they have over 70k followers on Soundcloud and many more on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.
